Digital Online Merchandiser

 

Description:

The Online Merchandiser is responsible for the performance and development of a product category or categories. Communication with the brand team and IT in terms of deliverables, product knowledge, product performance review. MIS and reporting requirement from 3rd party websites and pureplay platforms. Liaising with the marketplace functions and pureplay platforms for product update, logistics, pricing, promotions, online product range building with marketplace category teams.

 

The Role:

  • Responsible for the overall online presentation of a specific category portion of the site by merchandising, analysing and optimising a seamless customer experience to achieve financial objectives
  • Define and manage appropriate site navigation, filtering, category management, and product assortment for optimal customer discoverability, purchase path flow and product positioning
  • Participate in cross-functional seasonal planning to develop site content calendar
  • Collaborate with site Marketing teams to provide the optimal merchandising destination for campaigns
  • Partner with Head of Digital and Senior Merchandise Planner to leverage testing opportunities for maximum engagement and conversion
  • Review and analyse online competitor site merchandising, promotional execution and tactics, user experience, product representation and taxonomy. Report findings and provide appropriate counter-strategies when appropriate
  • Analyse data daily to optimise the customer experience and makes suggestions to improve conversion rates
  • Works directly in eCommerce platform tools to create product grids for promotions, email, social or other marketing needs
  • Participates in defining and refining the online shopping experience, including site architecture, taxonomy, browsing and buying features, product views and details, and other key eCommerce elements
  • Optimises internal search through in-depth analysis and awareness of product selection adjustments
  • Collaborates with buying team to assure product assortment is reflected online accurately
  • Works directly with buyers to create brand or category product collections to provide the customer with the best possible product selection

 

 

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree /Business, Merchandising, Communications preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years relevant work experience required as a Digital/Online Merchandiser
  • Experience in website interaction and back end tools is preferred.
  • Previous experience using eCommerce platforms is highly preferred.
  • Experience in multi-vendor retailing is a plus.
  • Required Computer and/or Technical Skills
  • Excellent computer skills, including basic to intermediate knowledge and abilities with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. High degree of internet savvy, with enthusiasm for digital and media trends.
