Your role
In this role, you will be responsible for setup, configuration and maintenance of essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, backups, laptops, desktops, software, network and hardware from various vendors.
Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users.
Your goal will be to ensure that our technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.
The Tasks:
- Responsible for the setup, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of client systems, Servers, Networking, virtualization, and Firewalls
- Performance monitoring and tuning to maintain systems according to requirements. This includes ensuring all aspects of the landscape have the relevant updates and are patched
- Managing and maintaining all aspects of a Microsoft in house deployment including active directory, SCCM, Group Policy, security hardening, vulnerability remediation, user access.
- Administering and maintaining Microsoft System Centre.
- Managing and administrating an Azure Hybrid cloud environment
- Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment by Cisco, Dell and HP.
- Ensure the environment is regular backed up and data restore testing done.
- Maintaining server architecture and security compliance.
- Build, install and maintain Infrastructure, which encompasses hardware, servers, and virtual machines in a VMware environment.
- Demonstrated experience in infrastructure and architecture design, working with vendors and third parties to deliver desired outcomes at scale.
- Managing and ensuring we are compliant in a zero trust environment.
- Disciplined approach to documentation creation and review.
- Ability to troubleshoot and implement complex solutions.
- Ensuring all company security, compliance and governance requirements are met.
- Ensuring our user base is supported as best possible.
Skills and Experience:
- University education or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5 -7 years System Administrator experience
- System administration, networking and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft System Center.
- Information Security Knowledge
- Network knowledge (TCP / IP, switching, routing and firewall in data center environment)
- Cisco and Fortigate skills a plus.
- Proven work experience as a Windows Administrator.
- Detailed knowledge of Windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance.
- Detailed knowledge of Windows client’s setup deployment and maintenance.
- System administration, networking and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus.
- Detailed knowledge of Microsoft System Center.
- Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent.
- Skilled in standard network security practices and zero trust environments using platforms like Cyberark and Beyond Trust
- Knowledge and work experience in backup software and storage like Netapp.
- Knowledge of VPN and remote \ virtualized infrastructure technologies using Citrix.
- Familiarity and understanding working IPAM solutions.
- Familiarity and understanding working with Asset Management software like Snipe IT.
This position requires that you undergo a security screening in accordance with the Saab internal processes.
