Purpose of the role

To build and develop the regional market for pumps, cyclones and valves in conjunction with the regional sales team and to drive the long-term business strategy for the product line with a view to increase market share and to promote retention of aftermarket business within the region. Identify and grow new market opportunities and to drive the revenue base for the product line in the regional market. Continuously improve product operational efficiency, and the technical competence of the local team. Provide expert knowledge and support for the product line, from a process, mechanical, operational, maintenance and R&D perspective. To contribute strongly to the overall company result, culture and development.

Your responsibilities

Responsibilities And Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Lead the development of sustainable profitable growth of the product line for the region, by implementing the long-term strategy; driving operational efficiency, and growing personal technical competence and that of the regional team
  • Engage, motivate and influence individuals and internal teams (sales and service execution teams) to continually increase customer satisfaction related to the product line.
  • Ensure product design is in accordance with local safety standards and the quality of the product is consistently premium and never compromised, by strong collaboration with the Global Product Line Management team
  • Meet potential and existing clients for growing, maintaining and leveraging client network for further business in both capital and aftermarket areas of the business.
  • Develop full technical ability to support the internal and external customers of the product line from a process, mechanical, operational, maintenance and R&D perspective
  • Troubleshoot customer problems on site independently and in collaboration with the GPLM team Work with Sales and proposals teams to develop proposals that addresses customer needs, concerns and objectives
  • Give input for business development planning and attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, present technical papers at these events, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
  • Participate in pricing for new products
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client audits.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external (customer) product training.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products and distribution channels for the product line.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the product offering’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Enhance the potential of existing products by championing more effective production processes
  • Support the sales teams in forecasting sales targets and in meeting these targets. Support product line regional inventory strategies to maximum customer responsiveness while managing net working capital effectively
  • Travel to customer sites and regional offices for at least 60% of the time but as customers and opportunities dictate

What you bring

  • A relevant tertiary level qualification, ideally an engineering degree or business degree
  • At least 10 years’ experience within the mining industry.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in the product line internally or externally At least 5 years’ experience in a business development role with a demonstrable success in growing the business
  • Existing strong network of key stakeholders within the mineral processing industry. Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships and credibility both internally and with external clients with strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen to develop realistic business plans with stretch targets and the clear plan to reach those targets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pumping systems and how to design/improve them
  • Demonstrated experience with installation and maintenance of equipment and parts.
  • Ability to work in a team or individually on multiple concurrent projects.
  • Computer experience using standard MS Office suite of programs is required Demonstrated ability to deliver in a fast-paced, changing environment while maintaining high attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills in order to work with customers, contractors and other personnel on a daily basis
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Good organisation, multitasking and time management skills that delivers effective planning and housekeeping standards.
