Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Coordinator to join our shipping and logistics operations in Dubai. The ideal candidate will handle end-to-end accounting responsibilities, ensuring smooth coordination between departments, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with UAE financial regulations, including VAT.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaise with internal departments (shipping, transport, maintenance, storage) to gather necessary information for revenue invoicing
- Generate new vendor and customer codes as required
- Maintain accounts receivable, track invoices periodically, and follow up on collections
- Manage accounts payable, including supplier statement reconciliation and arranging timely payments
- Review cost analyses to ensure correct product code allocation
- Reconcile sales invoices and ensure all invoices are posted from the invoicing system to the accounting system
- Support preparation and computation of UAE VAT returns
- Maintain financial records and safeguard sensitive information
- Perform monthly accruals for IT costs, personnel costs, prepaid expenses, and depreciation
- Manage balance sheet and profit & loss statements, ensuring accurate consolidation in accounting and reporting systems
- Assist with month-end closing processes
- Support line manager in preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts, variance analysis, forecasts, and annual budgets
- Interface with customers and third parties professionally to meet their expectations
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of accounting experience, preferably within the UAE
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word, with the ability to create complex spreadsheets
- Experience in shipping, multinational, or highly decentralized organizations is advantageous
- Familiarity with financial systems and business intelligence tools is a plus
- Knowledge of IFRS Lease standards is an advantage
