Description:
The Accounting Support Officer plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of the accounting system. This role focuses on day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, verifying supporting documentation, reconciling bank accounts, and preparing financial data for fiduciaries and external accountants. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and familiar with accounting software and financial controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter bank transactions and accounting data into the company’s accounting system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Review and verify incoming receipts, invoices, and expense claims to ensure correct classification and VAT treatment.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and identify/resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor the accuracy and completeness of financial data in the system.
- Maintain digital and physical documentation of all accounting records in line with audit and tax requirements.
- Prepare monthly or quarterly accounting files for review by the fiduciary or in-house accountant.
- Support the preparation of documentation required for tax declarations, VAT returns, and filings with local authorities.
- Liaise with the fiduciary or external accounting firm regarding outstanding items, clarifications, and reconciliations.
- Assist with internal process improvements to ensure compliance with accounting standards and Swiss regulations.
- Support additional administrative or finance tasks as needed during peak periods (e.g., year-end closing, audits).
Requirements
- Prior experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or finance administration.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., Bexio, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Basic knowledge of Swiss, UAE, and French VAT and accounting principles is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English; German or French is a plus.
