Assistant Cook

Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Cook to join our team at Chechi’s Traditional Kitchen Service, a Kerala cuisine-focused catering and mess food delivery service. The Assistant Cook will support the Head Cook in preparing traditional Kerala dishes, ensuring quality, taste, and timely meal production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Head Cook in preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner as per the daily menu.

• Prepare ingredients such as vegetables, meats, and spices according to recipes.

• Help in cooking traditional Kerala dishes like puttu, idiyappam, fish curry, kerala meals, biryani, and other items.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including equipment and workspaces.

• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.

• Ensure timely preparation of meals for daily delivery schedules.

• Assist in packing and labeling food items for delivery.

• Monitor inventory levels and inform the kitchen manager of shortages.

• Support the Head Cook during busy periods and catering events.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience as a cook or assistant cook, preferably in Kerala or South Indian cuisine.

• Ability to prepare and cook traditional dishes with consistency and quality.

• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

• Team player with good communication and collaboration skills.

• Physically fit to stand for long periods and lift heavy items when necessary.

• Flexible to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
