Description:
This is a full-time on-site role for an Electrical Technician based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for:
The role requires coordination with team members to ensure smooth operation, reliability, and safety of electrical systems.
Core Technical Skills Required
1. DB (Distribution Board) Dressing
• Neatly arrange and route wires inside the DB
• Proper identification using ferrules and labels
• Correct connection of MCBs, RCDs, and RCBOs
• Phase and neutral alignment
• Tightening terminals with correct torque
2. SMDB (Sub Main Distribution Board) Termination
• Terminate incoming and outgoing cables with correct phasing
• Lug crimping for larger cables
• Phase identification (R, Y, B, N, E)
• Earth & neutral connections
• Cable dressing and glanding at panel entry
3. Cable Glanding & Termination
• Select correct gland size and type (brass, GI, PVC)
• Strip and prepare cable without damaging conductors
• Fix glands securely and use shrouds for protection
• Crimp lugs with hydraulic or manual crimper
• Maintain bending radius of cables
4. MDB (Main Distribution Board) Termination
• Handle and terminate high-capacity cables (up to 630mm²)
• Perform insulation testing before connection
• Use torque tools to tighten lugs to busbars
• Understand and follow DEWA/SEWA/utility requirements
• Neat layout and barrier separation between phases
Additional Knowledge a Professional Electrician Should Have
• Read and interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• Use testing tools: multimeter, tong tester, megger
• Install cable trays, trunking, and conduits
• Conduct cable insulation and continuity testing
• Load balancing, breaker sizing, fault detection
• Awareness of DEWA/SEWA/ADDC compliance standards
Cable Work, Tray & Trunking – Core Knowledge for Electricians
1. Cable Work
• Select cables based on load and route (XLPE, PVC, armored)
• Accurate measuring and cutting
• Safe cable pulling techniques
• Maintain correct bending radius and spacing
• Tagging, labeling, and jointing to standards
• Proper insulation stripping
2. Cable Tray Work
• Tray types: perforated, ladder, wire mesh
• Tray layout and installation planning
• Use of support brackets (threaded rods, clamps)
• Leveling, fixing, and earthing
• Cable tying and clamping
3. Trunking Work
• GI, PVC, or aluminum trunking installation
• Proper cutting, assembly, and fittings
• Fixing methods and lid securing
• Metallic trunking earthing
• Cable pulling and sealing open ends

• DEWA/SEWA/ADDC specs for cable containment
• Fire-rated supports for emergency systems
• Fire-sealing for rated walls and slabs
• Tray sizing load calculation
• Conduit/tray transitions
• Cable segregation (power, data, fire alarm)
