Description:
Aventus is currently recruiting the Group General Counsel for a logistics business in Sharjah. This role sits on the executive committee and leads a mid-sized team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise senior management on legal matters related to the company's operations, including a mixture of transactional work and dispute resolution.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements, including complex agreements and transactions
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
- Manage litigation and other legal disputes, including managing outside counsel as necessary
- Develop and implement legal policies and procedures
- Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments that may impact the company
- Manage the company's relationships with outside counsel and other legal service providers
- Provide training and guidance to company employees on legal matters
Requirements:
- You must be US qualified or have substantial experience practising in the USA.
- At least 15 years of experience in a legal role, preferably as General Counsel or in a similar position, with experience in both transactional work and dispute resolution
- Experience managing a legal team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Willingness to travel to the US (approximately 30% of the time)
The role requires a combination of legal expertise, business acumen, and leadership skills to provide effective guidance and support to the company's management team. The General Counsel must also be comfortable travelling to the US as needed to manage legal matters and build relationships with outside counsel and other legal service providers.
