Description:

The Head of Data Engineering and Integration Platforms leads a team of data and integration engineers delivering value adding data analysis and reporting services across JM and leading the underpinning data and integration platforms.

The role holder will work with JM business team and IT mission teams to develop and operate data and integration services providing technical leadership and direction alongside effective team development. There is expected to be significant collaboration required with other Engineering team, Data Governance and Business Process and Data Owners. The role will be accountable for the financial management, service delivery and controls compliance, engineering and delivery quality and the technical roadmap for their area. The role will identify and drive forward change to improve the platform quality and efficiency.

The role is part of the wider IT Engineering team and a key part of the role will be working with colleagues to deliver an overall engineering roadmap and approach aligned to our solution and enterprise technology roadmaps.

Your responsibilities:
 

• Develop and implement strategies and processes to ensure the effective use of data and integration to achieve business outcomes.
• Plan and lead data engineering activities for strategic, large, and complex programmes.
• Build high-quality and secure data pipelines and integration solutions driving analytic solutions with a deep understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data analysis, reporting, and a basic understanding of data science techniques and workflows.
• Responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of data pipelines and integration through different data layers (ingest, data transformation, reporting). Develop and maintain automated data pipelines, ETL processes, and data warehousing systems.
• Line manage the data engineering and integration team providing effective people management, coaching and development support.
• Work with the other line managers and the Engineering Director to create a strong team culture, performance management approach and career development opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members in JMIT and business to understand and support their data and integration needs and develop scalable solutions /design data models that meet business objectives.
• Work closely with Product and Delivery teams to drive data standards and methodologies.

• Working with Enterprise and Solution Architecture to develop and maintain a platform roadmap.
• Building new engineering teams, ways of working, processes and culture.
