Description:
The 3M Health Information Systems (HIS) Analyst is responsible for the configuration, optimization, and support of 3M 360 Encompass, Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC), and Encoder solutions within the Health Information Management (HIM) environment. This role ensures accurate DRG assignment, coding integrity, clinical documentation improvement (CDI) alignment, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration with EHR platforms such as Cerner/Oracle Health.
Key Responsibilities
3M 360 Encompass / CAC Support
- Configure, maintain, and optimize 3M 360 Encompass, CAC, and Encoder applications.
- Validate DRG assignment logic, code sequencing, and grouper updates (ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT).
- Ensure compliance with AHIMA standards, official coding guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Troubleshoot CAC/encoder defects and coordinate remediation with vendors and internal teams.
Build, Configuration & Integration
- Build and maintain 3M encoder interfaces with Cerner/Oracle Health HIM modules.
- Oversee batch monitoring, CAC workflows, interface jobs, and automated processes.
- Manage code table updates, crosswalk mapping, code set changes, and scheduled maintenance.
- Support data exchange activities including HL7/ADT and CCD-based integrations.
Coding Quality & DRG Validation
- Support DRG validation and audit workflows for inpatient, outpatient, and surgical cases.
- Collaborate with CDI teams to improve documentation quality and query workflows.
- Perform coding consistency reviews and ensure accurate code assignment.
Governance, Compliance & Information Management
- Ensure solutions comply with information governance, HIM regulations, CMS updates, and coding standards.
- Maintain audit trails, documentation logs, and data integrity across coding workflows.
- Assist in internal and external audits related to documentation and coding compliance.
Reporting & Analytics
- Generate operational and quality reports within 3M applications.
- Provide insights into coder productivity, CAC performance, workflow metrics, and DRG shifts.
- Support leadership with trend analysis and audit reporting.
User Support & Training
- Provide tier-2/3 support to coding, CDI, and HIM operational teams.
- Develop training documentation for new features, upgrades, and coding best practices.
- Assist with change management activities for upgrades, enhancements, and new functionalities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with 3M 360 Encompass, CAC, Encoder, and DRG grouping logic.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10 CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and official coding guidelines.
- Experience integrating 3M encoder tools with Cerner/Oracle Health HIM modules.
- Familiarity with HIM compliance, coding governance, data quality, and audit principles.
- Understanding of CDI processes and documentation workflows.
- Analytical and troubleshooting skills in a healthcare information systems environment.
