Description:
We are urgently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel specializing in Cybercrime and Media Law cases, particularly those involving media and social platforms. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling high-profile defamation claims, strong litigation expertise, and familiarity with relevant UAE and GCC legal frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel on matters involving online defamation, slander, and media-related offenses.
- Represent the company before courts, prosecution offices, and official authorities (Cybercrime Unit, Police, Public Prosecution).
- Draft and file formal complaints and legal briefs against individuals or digital platforms engaged in defamatory activities.
- Liaise with and report content violations to global social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube).
- Gather, assess, and document digital evidence and online materials relevant to cases.
- Negotiate and draft legal documentation such as settlement agreements, memorandums, and official complaints.
- Monitor and interpret legislative changes in defamation and cybercrime laws across the UAE and GCC region.
- Ensure the company’s reputation is protected through swift and strategic legal action.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or equivalent); master’s degree or relevant legal certification is a plus.
- Having good experience in legal, specifically handling defamation, cybercrime, or media law cases (against individuals or platforms).
- Proven courtroom and litigation experience, including dealing with public prosecution and cybercrime units
- Strong understanding of cybercrime and defamation laws in the UAE and GCC region.
- Excellent negotiation and legal drafting skills (settlement agreements, official complaints, legal memorandums).
- Proficiency in gathering and analyzing digital evidence and online content
- Ability to file and follow up on reports to global platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube)
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle sensitive matters independently
- Fluent in Arabic (spoken and written); English proficiency highly preferred
- Holds a valid license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction
