Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for complex refrigeration systems and large‑scale industrial projects? This is an opportunity to join a forward‑thinking engineering team working across industrial, commercial, and recreational refrigeration, delivering innovative solutions for environments “below zero”.
We’re looking for an experienced engineer who can take full ownership of design activities — from concept through to IFC — while driving technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and BIM‑led project delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll play a key role in the full design lifecycle, including:
- Leading mechanical and refrigeration design for:
- Industrial refrigeration (cold storage, food processing, bottling, distribution, oil & gas cooling/compression)
- Recreational refrigeration (snow parks, ice rinks, ice walls)
- Commercial refrigeration racks (reach‑ins, freezers, display cabinets)
- HVAC ventilation systems (“Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables…”)
- Producing and verifying system specifications, block flow diagrams, layouts, P&IDs, and design review packages.
- Performing detailed engineering calculations including heat load, HVAC, thermal analysis, pipe stress, vibration, seismic, and equipment support design. (“Perform all design and calculation included in project scope of work…”)
- Managing BIM workflows in line with ISO 19650, BS 1192, PAS 1192‑5 and coordinating LOD/LOd requirements.
- Conducting clash detection, materials handling planning, BOQ/BOM development, and value engineering for IFC submissions.
- Selecting and approving equipment, coordinating with internal teams, and incorporating design review comments.
- Preparing O&M manuals and supporting sustainability, ERP, and lifecycle documentation.
- Providing guidance, checking work from other designers, and supporting the development of design standards.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years’ experience in mechanical or refrigeration design.
- Strong capability with Revit MEP, Navisworks, AutoCAD, BIM 360, and Microsoft Office.
- Deep understanding of refrigeration design, heat transfer, and equipment function.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical plans with precision.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
