Nba Arabic Social Media Manager

Seven League is looking for a Social Media Manager (SMM) to run the NBA’s Arabic social media accounts (Twitter, Instagram Facebook).

The role will involve attendance at events supporting #NBAinAbuDhabi meaning that the candidate is ideally located in the Gulf region.

Role Overview and Purpose

This role focuses on running the NBA’s social media channels in the Middle East in Arabic. The ambition is to grow the league in the region through the use of locally relevant, engaging, and exciting social media content.

 

The SMM will lead on posting and community management of the NBA’s Arabic Instagram, Facebook and Twitter handles, growing engagement in #NBAinAbuDhabi as well supporting the league’s other marketing efforts in the region (e.g. Jr NBA Leagues). The aim will be to generate growth by driving engagement and exciting existing and new fans.

 

There will be a focused effort on engaging fans, supporter groups and local influencers through social media. The SMM will develop relationships with key influencers to create a local network of people who can amplify NBA content – these could be celebrities, sports stars, bloggers, gamers, coaches, local teams & players.

 

Essential Skills

- A minimum of two years of experience managing sizeable social media channels and audiences

- Hands-on experience running high-profile social media accounts at live events

- Experienced admin user of major and new social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok) and key understanding of what content works for each platform

- A passion and considerable knowledge of the NBA and of basketball

- Excellent copywriting skills

- A good understanding of the Middle East sports market, specifically how to engage fans in the Arabic language

- Fluent in Arabic (spoken and written), with perfect spelling, grammar and syntax

- Strong spoken and written English to communicate with the wider project team

- Flexible, reactive and sound editorial judgment

- A finger on the pulse in terms of social media trends, market understanding and the potential application of this information for the NBA

- Good understanding of analytics tools and data – what the data means, how to react to it, and how to reach key KPIs

- Ability to locate, engage with, and manage key online influencers in the Middle East

 

Preferable Skills

- Understanding and experience of photo manipulation software – e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator

- Understanding and experience of video editing software desirable – e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut, Avid

- Delivery of social media output which enhances the league’s position of being market-leading in terms of a digital sports experience

- Growth in new fans from the Middle East on social platforms

- Increased engagement rates of fans on all social media platforms

- Driving traffic to key commercial activities such as the NBA Store, League Pass, and promoting the local TV broadcaster

- Build a reputation for NBA in the Middle East as a league that embraces this community, through active listening and engagement with their fans

- Aid, support and drive creative vision of content and services that inform, educate, entertain, engage and inspire

 

Further Information

- We estimate the role would be 1-2 hours every morning and 1-2 hours in the evening to post content, manage the community engagement and develop fan/influencer relationships

- Plus, live social media coverage of key games and events, e.g., NBA Finals

- Interviews to take place via Google Meets

- Invoices are paid on a monthly basis for a set amount

- The successful candidate would be expected to use their own computer, but Seven League would provide professional level subscriptions to tools like Google Drive
