Description:
Drive efficient, cost-optimized procurement of mechanical and MEP materials, equipment, and subcontract packages to support building and infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with design intent, project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Review drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents to identify mechanical and MEP procurement requirements for building projects.
Source, evaluate, and prequalify suppliers and subcontractors or HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, pumps, tanks, equipment packages, steel fabrication, and MEP systems.
Prepare and issue RFQs / tenders, manage clarifications, and coordinate technical and commercial submissions with vendors.
Conduct technical and commercial bid evaluations, prepare comparison sheets, and recommend best-value procurement options.
Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contractual conditions in line with project budgets and timelines.
Create, track, and manage purchase orders and subcontracts, ensuring timely approvals, acknowledgements, and deliveries.
Coordinate closely with Design, Project Management, Planning, Site, Finance, and Contractors to align procurement activities with construction sequencing and cash flow.
Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance across quality, delivery, and responsiveness, maintaining approved vendor lists and performance records.
Support material inspections and compliance checks where required to ensure conformity with project specifications, local authority requirements, and QA/QC standards.
Track procurement budgets, identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities, and report variances to project management.
Prepare procurement status reports highlighting look-ahead requirements, risks, mitigation actions, and alternatives.
Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, contracts, HSE, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
3–7 years of experience in mechanical / MEP procurement for building, infrastructure, or construction projects.
Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, BOQs, specifications, and tender documents.
Experience working with ERP / procurement systems and strong proficiency in MS Excel for cost comparisons and reporting.
* Knowledge of local market suppliers, subcontractors, and construction practices is a strong advantage.
