The American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications and nominations of candidates for Provost and Chief Academic Officer. The Provost provides vision and leadership for all academic enterprises, manages all academic affairs, and supports the operations of the Colleges and School of Business Administration. The Provost has broad oversight responsibilities for faculty and research, including support services such as the library and sponsored programs, support of undergraduate and graduation education (including academic advising and other academic services, the registrar, and graduate engagement), assurance of learning and accreditation, diversity and inclusion, and international education. Founded in 1997, AUS is a comprehensive, independent, not-for-profit institution of higher learning serving a student body of more than 5,000 undergraduate and graduate students from 95 nationalities, 50% of whom are female. The international faculty of 340 offers 28 undergraduate majors, 16 master’s degrees and three doctoral programs through the Colleges of Architecture, Art, and Design; Arts and Sciences; Engineering; and the School of Business Administration.

Candidate qualifications include an earned doctorate or terminal degree, significant academic administrative experience at the dean level or above at an institution based on the American model, and fluency in English. International experience is desirable. The successful candidate for this position will have a demonstrated record of academic leadership and a reputation for working collaboratively with university stakeholders to improve all dimensions of the student learning experience.
