The research group of Prof. Sunil Kumar in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to conduct research in the area of machine learning for radiative transfer in scattering media.

The successful applicant will use machine learning for solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems optimization in computational heat transfer and radiative transport using sophisticated numerical modeling and machine learning approaches for forward and inverse problems. The research associate will be responsible for simulation-based analysis for object detection methods and for optimization of solar energy applications. The applicant must be able to independently design, plan, and carry out the research project tasks, and write journal and conference papers.

The position is for the duration of 4 months (September 1 to December 31, 2024), and it can be renewed based on performance and availability of funds.

Applicants must have a MS in mechanical engineering and experience with machine learning for computational heat transfer.
