Description:
Jawhara Jewellery is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join its finance team at the head office in Gold Souq, Dubai. This role is ideal for a professional with strong accounting expertise, preferably within the jewellery industry, who can manage complex financial operations and ensure compliance with established standards and regulations.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records in line with approved accounting standards
- Prepare, manage, and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable on a timely basis
- Record journal entries and post financial transactions to the general ledger
- Reconcile intercompany accounts and ensure alignment across group entities
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities and related financial reports
- Coordinate the gold rate fixing process and handle all related documentation
- Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies proactively
- Review source documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance
- Coordinate with the Compliance Department to support Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements
Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in the jewellery industry is preferred
- Strong background in financial supervision, accounting operations, and consolidated reporting
- In-depth understanding of group accounting policies and procedures
- Expertise in cost allocation, reconciliations, and intercompany transactions
- Experience in implementing internal controls and safeguarding company assets
- Ability to prepare tax returns and coordinate with auditors effectively
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial management, ideally in the jewellery sector
- Strong exposure to IFRS compliance and consolidated financial reporting
- Prior experience supervising accounting teams is an advantage
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with accounting software and ERP systems will be considered a plus
