Description:
The Senior Legal Counsel will report to the Senior Legal Director, Middle East (located in Dubai) and will be responsible for the following main tasks and activities in relation to cloud transactions:
- Advising the business on legal and contractual matters, including the structuring of contracts and appropriate documents to be used
- Assisting the business in negotiations with customers and partners (including face-to-face meetings when required)
- Working closely with sales management to ensure alignment and appropriate prioritization of legal resource
- Working closely with Oracle’s Customer Deal Desk group, product compliance teams, operations teams, and the Privacy & Security Legal group, including in connection with internal approvals and consequent drafting, to ensure a smooth and efficient support to the business and compliance with Oracle policies and procedures as well as local laws and regulations
- Identifying, analysing and assessing legal/contractual risk in connection with business transactions, including in connection with internal approvals to assist approvers in making decisions on an informed basis
- Reviewing, vetting and drafting of non-standard contracts and clauses
- Localizing Oracle model standard agreements and clauses when required
- Responding to various ad-hoc queries
- Assist in connection with disputes and litigation matters (related to cloud transactions)
- Assisting the Compliance & Ethics group in connection with compliance cases (related to cloud transactions)
- Working with other legal groups in EMEA in connection with cross-border deals and EMEA-wide initiatives and projects
- Providing legal training and updates to the business and other functions on cloud contracting matters and developments
- Performing various other tasks as are relevant for an in-house lawyer
Minimum job requirements:
- Fluency in English and Arabic, oral and written
- Law degree
- 6-8 years of relevant work experience with a significant proportion of that time spent supporting cloud transactions; experience from an in-house legal function will be a distinct plus
- Basic computer skills (including experience with Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel if required (not often)
