Senior Mechanical Engineer

Description:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (MEP) will oversee the design, execution, supervision, and coordination of mechanical systems within MEP projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and related services. The role involves leading technical reviews, managing site activities, ensuring compliance with codes & standards, and delivering projects on time within budget, and to the highest quality & safety standards.

Responsibilities:
-Review & approve mechanical design calculations, drawings, & equipment selection for HVAC, plumbing, & firefighting systems
-Ensure designs comply with international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, ISO, etc.) & client requirements
-Prepare & review shop drawings, as-built drawings, material submittals, & method statements
-Conduct value engineering & provide technical solutions to optimize cost & efficiency
-Supervise installation, testing, & commissioning of MEP mechanical systems
-Monitor project progress, ensuring adherence to approved schedules & budgets
-Conduct site inspections to ensure quality workmanship & compliance with approved drawings/specifications
-Coordinate with other disciplines (electrical, civil, architectural) to resolve design & site issues
-Prepare BOQs, specifications, & support procurement of materials & equipment
-Review vendor offers, conduct technical evaluations & recommend approvals
-Liaise with suppliers & subcontractors for timely delivery & quality assurance.
-Plan & supervise pre-commissioning & commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, & firefighting systems.
-Ensure all testing procedures comply with project specifications & standards.
-Prepare O&M manuals, testing reports, & final handover documents.
-Mentor junior engineers, supervisors, & site staff to enhance technical capability.
-Ensure all mechanical activities comply with HSE policies & quality control procedures.
-Attend technical & progress meetings with consultants, clients, & contractors.

Qualifications & Skills:
-Bachelor/Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
-With 8–15 years of experience in MEP projects (at least 8 plus years in a senior role)
-Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, & building services
-Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, DuctSizer, MS Office, & project management tools
-Excellent understanding of international codes & standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC, ISO)
-Strong leadership, problem-solving & decision-making skills
-Ability to manage multiple projects & coordinate with multidisciplinary teams
