Description:
We are looking for Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support technology projects across enterprise environments. The role requires strong expertise in Oracle database administration and performance tuning, combined with a strong interest in automating repetitive DBA activities using modern automation technologies.
The successful candidate will work across multiple projects simultaneously and should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend support as required.
Key Responsibilities
Oracle Database Administration
- Administer and support Oracle databases, including:
- Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
- Oracle Data Guard
- Manage database operations across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS.
- Administer and monitor databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Perform database backup and recovery activities using RMAN.
Performance & Database Engineering
- Perform database patching and migrations.
- Conduct SQL and database-level performance tuning.
- Identify and resolve database performance issues.
- Maintain database reliability and operational stability across technology projects.
Automation & DevOps
- Automate repetitive Oracle DBA activities using modern automation technologies.
- Develop and maintain automation using:
- Ansible
- Jenkins
- Terraform
- Groovy
- Contribute to improving operational efficiency through automation.
Project & Operational Support
- Work across multiple technology projects simultaneously.
- Operate effectively under pressure and support critical activities when required.
- Provide occasional out-of-hours and weekend support based on operational requirements.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of Oracle database engineering experience within large organizations.
- Excellent knowledge of:
- Oracle Database Administration
- Oracle RAC
- Oracle Data Guard
- Oracle Enterprise Manager
- RMAN
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS.
- Strong expertise in:
- Database patching
- Database migration
- SQL tuning
- Database performance tuning
- Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL.
- Good understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Scripting experience using Bash and Python.
- Good knowledge of Agile working practices.
- Desirable experience with:
- Ansible
- Git
- Jenkins
- Groovy
- Terraform
- Banking and Managing Analytical Database experience is desirable.
- Relevant professional certifications are desirable.
