Software Development Engineer Noon

noon is a fast-growing e-commerce venture in the Middle East with a committed capital of $1 billion. Our aim is to develop a world-class ecosystem in the Middle East. To achieve this goal, noon has built end-to-end in-house capabilities across all verticals. After launching in 2017, we are now looking for aggressive scaling strategies to maximize our customer reach and product offerings. 

To fulfill these goals, noon has recently launched a new marketplace division, a one stop supermarket shop that is dedicated to the daily needs of the region called noon Daily. As part of noon Daily team, the candidate will help in building products to take it to the next level. As we are very much still a startup at the core, we are looking for somebody deeply passionate and committed in making contributions to build something impactful for the region. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Implement high-quality solutions within a timely manner. Designed and built to last and to scale. 
• Translating designs and wireframes into API skeletons and component architectures.  
• Identify new libraries / patterns / platforms that we should study / adopt in order to continuously improve our architecture. 
• Prototyping new features and wire-frames cross-functionally with product team. 
• Design and implement low-latency, high-availability, and performant applications  
• Work closely with Cloud, DevOps and Infrastructure teams. 
• Design scalable data models and architecture. 
• Contribute to planning, roadmaps, integration and migration plans. 
• Cost, Performance and Security assessments. 
• Contribute to OKRs and Tech org performance. 

Skills Required 

• Strong computer science fundamentals in system design, data structures, algorithms 
• Strong proficiency in Database Design and Software Architecture 
• Strong expertise in Python, Golang, or NodeJS 
• Experience with writing and maintaining unit-tests 
• Strong proficiency in server languages, frameworks and understanding their pros & cons.  
• SQL / NoSQL databases and Database architecture skills.  
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (strong experience with GCP is a plus). 
• Accountability and Ownership: Self-driven individual who can build and maintain high scale projects end to end. 

Good to Have 

• Research mindset, have contributed to reputed conferences/journals 
• Familiarity with container orchestration systems (preferably Kubernetes)
