Structural Steel Fitter

Description:

We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter to support a large steel structure project on a part-time / freelance basis.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who understands end-to-end structural steel work, can guide welders on site, and knows how to plan and execute complex steel structures. This role is not for a welder, supervisor, or foreman.

Responsibilities:

• Handle and execute large structural steel works on site
• Read and understand structural steel drawings
• Plan work sequence (where to start, assembly order, alignment, bending, and welding)
• Lead and guide a team of welders during fabrication and installation
• Work with tables, beams, bins, and heavy steel components
• Ensure accuracy, quality, and proper fitting of steel structures
• Support smooth workflow and coordination on site

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Structural Steel Fitter
• Strong background in large steel structure projects
• Ability to lead welders without holding a supervisor or foreman role
• Excellent knowledge of steel fabrication, fitting, and installation
• Able to work independently and solve site challenges
