Water Quality Senior Engineer

 

Description:

  • Plans the schedules and tasks assignments of preventive, corrective and other ALSS related maintenance services and ensures timely completion of the tasks
  • Monitors the daily activities and performance of the team, ensures completion of their required trainings and assess their professional development and competencies
  • Conducts daily briefing to the team with the updated park information and sets daily goals
  • Investigates noncompliance and safety related incidents, completes required documentation and coordinates with the leadership
  • Analyzes data provided by the control system, meters, laboratory, other Animal Care team or from the routine inspections in order to troubleshoot water quality, flow or other systems problems and provide recommendation
  • Monitors all life support systems, water quality and water treatment facilities; ensures they are operating within all environmental and applicable regulations and permit conditions
  • Inspects all departmental areas including chemical drums, storage areas and work station and ensures cleanliness and organization are maintained
  • Performs various troubleshooting techniques related to field’s problems and/or malfunction.
  • Utilizes safe handling, storage and disposal practices for toxic substances and hazardous waste in accordance with SeaWorld and department operating procedures
  • Sends out daily reports and correspondence to ALSS leadership team
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety guidelines, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Monitors department’s inventory and ensures usage are maximized; raises required purchase requisition in accordance to the company’s procurement policy
  • Works in vaults, and other confined spaces utilizing proper safety techniques and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations and departmental safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborates with other Senior Engineers and communicates accurate shifts/tasks handover
  • Performs other duties assigned by the ALSS leadership
     

TECHNICAL SCOPE FOR PUMP MECHANIC:
 

  • Inspects, diagnoses and performs major and minor repair work on all ALSS pumps, motors, hydraulic equipment, compressors, controls and related equipment. Rebuilds equipment to manufactures specification.
  • Ensures the continuous operation of all saltwater, freshwater and water treatment systems
  • Leads the routine maintenance, services, and repairs on various pumps, motors, compressors, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
  • Conducts various analyses and inspections of mechanical systems to determine the most cost-effective means of maintenance, repair or replacements.
     

TECHNICAL SCOPE FOR SYSTEMS AUTOMATION:
 

  • Conducts testing, troubleshooting, repairs and other maintenance services on a variety of low and medium voltage industrial electrical systems, components, motors and machinery; rebuilds equipment to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Facilitates installation, calibration, repairs and other maintenance services of all ALSS electronic recording and indicating instruments, electrical systems, apparatus and electrical and electronic components of wastewater and water system machinery and equipment following electrical codes, manuals, diagrams and other specifications.
  • Facilitates installation of conduits, wires, pull boxes required in making additions, extensions or alterations in electrical systems.
  • Monitors and maintains all controls, instrumentation, and support equipment integral to the animal life support systems and the water treatment facilities.
     

TECHNICAL SCOPE FOR FILTRATION MECHANIC:
 

  • Monitors real-time water quality and systems trends provided by a computer based controls systems and responds to alarms or out-of-range trends.
  • Facilitates the team in the draining, filling and isolation of all habitats, holding pools, decretive pools and waterfalls
  • Makes adjustments and additions to maintain water balance in accordance with the department’s manual and SOP
  • Monitors the operation, maintenance and repairs of all life support systems and pool filtration equipment, such as filter, pumps, valve and piping.
  • Reviews and understands the water chemistry testing results and takes appropriate actions as necessary
     

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
 

  • Diploma related to technical qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Marine Engineering or equivalent
  • 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent in English communication skills, verbal/written
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills related to the field of expertise
  • Working knowledge to all basic hand tools and measuring devices in a related field of expertise
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel)
