Description:
A construction-focused organization based in the UAE is currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in construction and contracting operations. The ideal candidate will manage project-based accounting activities, ensure accurate cost control, and support financial reporting aligned with construction industry standards.
Job Summary:
The role involves handling end-to-end accounting responsibilities related to construction projects, including cost tracking, subcontractor payments, and compliance with UAE financial and VAT regulations. The accountant will work closely with project managers to monitor financial performance across multiple ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
- Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets while tracking actual project costs.
- Handle subcontractor invoices, payment certifications, and progress billing processes.
- Record, reconcile, and review project-related revenues and expenses.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and cost analysis reports.
- Monitor project-based cash flow and ensure timely payments and collections.
- Process payroll for site staff and workers, when applicable.
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT regulations, tax filings, and local financial laws.
- Coordinate with project managers on cost control, budgeting, and financial performance.
- Support external audits and prepare all required financial documentation.
- Maintain organized records for contracts, variations, claims, and project-related documents.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3–5+ years of accounting experience within construction or contracting companies (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of project accounting, job costing, and cost control.
- Experience handling subcontractor accounts and progress billing.
- Proficiency in accounting software or ERP systems and strong MS Excel skills.
- Solid understanding of UAE VAT and taxation requirements.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with construction-specific ERP systems.
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA are an advantage.
- Experience managing accounts across multiple projects simultaneously.
