Fabrication Team Leader

Description:

We are a growing startup specializing in architectural scale models, 3D printing and custom fabrication. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on professional who can edit CAD and Rhino files, fabricate high-quality models, and lead and train our production team.

This role offers the opportunity to help build our workshop capabilities, establish production standards and develop a skilled team as the company grows.

*Key Responsibilities*

- Lead architectural model projects from drawing review and file preparation through fabrication, finishing and delivery.

- Edit and prepare AutoCAD and Rhino files for accurately scaled model production, 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC machining.

- Work hands-on with the team to fabricate buildings, façades, landscaping, model bases and detailed components.

- Plan production schedules, assign tasks and monitor progress against project deadlines.

- Train junior team members in fabrication techniques, material handling, assembly, finishing and quality control.

- Set clear quality standards, provide constructive feedback and lead by example.

- Identify fabrication challenges early and develop practical solutions.

- Estimate material and labour requirements, reduce waste and improve production efficiency.

- Coordinate with management on project priorities, resources and production updates.

- Maintain an organised workshop and safe working practices.

*Requirements*

- Proven experience in architectural model making, with strong hands-on fabrication and finishing skills.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Rhino, including editing and preparing files for production.

- Experience leading a workshop or production team and training junior staff.

- Ability to read architectural drawings and understand scales, dimensions and construction details.

- Familiarity with acrylic, MDF, styrene, foam, resin and 3D-printed components.

- Knowledge of 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC production workflows.

- Strong planning, communication and problem-solving skills.

- Willingness to take ownership, adapt to changing priorities and work closely with a small team in a startup environment.

- A portfolio of completed physical models, clearly showing your role in their production.
