Description:
The Factory Head will oversee the end-to-end manufacturing operations of gold and diamond jewelry from design interpretation and casting to finishing and dispatch.
This role demands a strong leader who can drive process efficiency, wastage control, manpower productivity, and production cost optimization, aligning the factory’s output with Sona’s retail, wholesale, and export goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the entire factory operations covering casting, handmade, diamond setting, polishing, QC, and packaging.
- Translate retail and wholesale demand into accurate production plans ensuring timely output and optimal inventory flow.
- Establish and monitor production KPIs — output, wastage %, recovery efficiency, turnaround time, and cost-per-gram.
- Implement process standardization (SOPs) and ensure compliance with purity, quality, and safety standards.
- Drive cost optimization through efficient resource allocation, vendor control, and productivity enhancement.
- Partner with design, procurement, and retail teams to ensure alignment between product innovation and manufacturing capability.
- Introduce and monitor wastage control systems, refining, and metal recovery optimization.
- Lead factory workforce planning, training, and performance management to enhance skill levels and reduce dependency on individual craftsmen.
- Collaborate with IT/ERP teams to digitize and automate factory workflows and reporting dashboards.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws, health and safety regulations, and ethical manufacturing practices.
Required Experience & Skills
- 12–20 years of experience in jewelry manufacturing (gold & diamond), preferably with leading brands like Malabar, Kalyan, Tanishq, or similar.
- Proven expertise in factory operations management, cost control, and wastage reduction.
- Strong understanding of casting, handmade jewelry, and diamond setting processes.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/production management systems.
- Excellent leadership, team-building, and analytical skills.
- Exposure to GCC operations will be a strong advantage.
