Description:
To lead and grow a diverse and profitable global Energy portfolio (Upstream & Downstream) by driving strong underwriting performance, maintaining solid broker and client relationships, and positioning the company as a preferred reinsurer in international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Leadership & Underwriting
- Achieve the International Division’s budget for Energy (Upstream & Downstream).
- Lead the underwriting team to deliver high-quality reinsurance solutions aligned with company risk appetite and philosophy.
- Maintain active portfolio management by monitoring performance, accumulations, loss ratios, and market trends.
- Contribute to enhancing underwriting guidelines and the risk appetite matrix.
- Ensure thorough documentation of underwriting rationales and completion of risk assessment sheets.
- Ensure timely booking of business, updates to quote/renewal registers, and compliance with internal guidelines.
Business Development & Market Engagement
- Position the company as a preferred reinsurer through strong market visibility and service excellence.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with brokers and cedants to ensure a consistent pipeline and strong conversion ratios.
- Oversee renewal management and negotiations to secure high retention.
- Drive structured follow-ups, including monthly broker visits and planned regional meetings.
- Collaborate with internal teams for cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
Planning, Reporting & Governance
- Participate in the preparation of annual budgets and strategic business plans.
- Provide regular MIS reports including production, conversions, renewals, loss ratios, and pipeline updates.
- Stay updated on market capacity, ratings, regulations, and competitive landscape.
- Coordinate with claims, finance, reinsurance, and other departments as required.
- Support internal audits and ensure full compliance with underwriting authority and frameworks.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management based on business needs.

- As per the company’s underwriting authority framework.
Frameworks & Boundaries
- Underwriting guidelines, treaties, and risk appetite matrix.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Chemical Engineering or Petroleum Engineering preferred.
- CII qualification (Dip CII / ACII) is an advantage.
- Minimum 12 - 15 years of proven Energy Underwriting experience.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of energy underwriting and risk engineering.
- Excellent analytical and market intelligence skills.
- Strong relationship management and networking capabilities.
- Solid computer proficiency.
