What You'll Be Doing
- Inspect, sample, and verify all incoming construction materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel, pipes, cables, finishes, etc.) for compliance with approved material submittals and project specifications.
- Witness and/or perform field and laboratory tests on materials (e.g., concrete slump and cubes, compaction tests, asphalt density, rebar tests, coating tests) in accordance with relevant standards
- Review and verify material test reports submitted by independent and project laboratories to ensure accuracy and conformance to requirements.
- Monitor batching plants, asphalt plants, quarries, and fabrication facilities to verify compliance with approved procedures, mix designs, and quality control plans.
- Coordinate with the contractor and laboratory for timely scheduling of tests and inspections to avoid delays to construction activities.
- Check storage, handling, and protection of materials at site to prevent damage, contamination, or deterioration.
- Reject or quarantine non-conforming materials and ensure that corrective actions are implemented and documented.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test requests, test results, non-conformance reports, and material approvals.
- Assist in the review of material submittals, certificates of compliance, mill test certificates, and other supporting documentation.
- Verify that approved and traceable materials are used in the works and correctly referenced in as-built documentation.
- Coordinate with construction and quality teams to resolve material-related issues and propose practical solutions.
- Provide input to daily, weekly, and monthly reports regarding materials status, testing, and non-conformances.
- Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate or assigned.
What Required Skills You'll Bring
- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent technical qualification.
- Minimum 8 years experience and then 3 years experience as a Civil Inspector,
- Good knowledge of construction materials (concrete, asphalt, aggregates, steel, etc.) and their relevant standards and specifications.
- Has to have UAE experience
- Familiarity with common field and laboratory test methods and equipment.
- Ability to read and understand project specifications, drawings, and material submittals.
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for recording inspections and test results.
- Good written and spoken English communication skills.
- Basic computer skills, including use of MS Office and project-related systems for reporting and record keeping
