Materials Inspector

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Materials Inspector to join our team! In this role you will get to perform difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks as well as inspect various facets of work on the construction site and perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction and inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.

What You'll Be Doing
 

  • Ensure that all construction works are performed in strict accordance with the plans and specifications.
  • Perform daily on-site inspection, sampling, and testing of construction materials to ensure compliance with approved submittals, specifications, and authority requirements (DM, RTA,DEWA).
  • Inspect and verify all delivered materials, documentation, and traceability; reject and report non-conforming materials.
  • Conduct and witness sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, concrete, steel, water, and utilities per ITPs and relevant standards.
  • Inspect roadworks, concrete works, reinforcement/structural steel, bridges, tunnels, and utility materials for compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Check material storage, handling, and protection in stockyards and warehouses.
  • Maintain material inspection records, sampling registers, and test logs; support NCRs and observation notes.
  • Coordinate with the Material Engineer, Site Engineers, Safety, QA/QC, and lab teams and provide inputs for daily/weekly reports.
  • Process the Inspection Requests and maintain records of their status.
  • Maintain detailed records of work performed by the contractor in case the work is performed on a Day Works basis.
  • Act positively and participate in all health and safety issues at site, as required by the Assistant Resident Engineer and the project safety representatives.
  • Act in a professional way but firm in dealings with the Contractor.

     

What Required Skills You’ll Bring
 

  • Diploma or B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or Materials Engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in materials inspection, including at least 5 years on infrastructure projects and minimum 2 years in the UAE/GCC.
  • Strong hands-on experience with field and lab testing for concrete, asphalt, soils, aggregates, steel, and utilities.
  • Working knowledge of RTA Specs, DM QCS, ASTM, BS EN, AASHTO, ACI, DEWA standards, and ITPs.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, submittals, mill certificates, and test reports.
  • Good attention to detail, documentation, and record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel and clear communication onsite.
