Plant & Machinery Manager

Description:

BCD Global is seeking an experienced and operationally focused Plant & Machinery Manager / Engineer to oversee the deployment, maintenance, and performance of construction equipment across our project sites. The ideal candidate will have strong experience managing heavy machinery, tower cranes, hoists, and fleet operations, with a focus on equipment reliability, safety, and cost efficiency. Working closely with site teams, technicians, equipment suppliers, and inspection bodies, you will play a key role in coordinating equipment availability, implementing preventive maintenance programs, maintaining required certifications, and minimizing downtime to support safe and efficient construction delivery.
 

• Plan and manage site allocation, erection, climbing, and dismantling of tower cranes, passenger hoists, and heavy machinery.
• Implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for heavy fleet (excavators, loaders, generators, compressors, heavy trucks, and cranes).
• Coordinate mandatory third-party safety inspections and certifications (e.g., TÜV, ENAS-accredited bodies) for all lifting gear and heavy plant prior to site deployment.
• Supervise mechanical technicians, heavy equipment operators, and crane operators to ensure safe operating procedures.
• Source and manage heavy equipment rental contracts, evaluate supplier terms, and resolve vendor performance disputes or rental overcharge claims.
• Manage spare parts inventory, issue purchase requisitions for mechanical components, and negotiate with local machinery dealers.
• Investigate machinery breakdowns or site mechanical failures; conduct root-cause analyses and implement immediate corrective action to minimize site downtime.
• Monitor equipment fuel consumption, running hours, logbooks, and prepare monthly operational cost/utilization reports for executive management.
   

Key Responsibilities

Fleet & Machinery Asset Management

Overseeing the acquisition, allocation, mobilization, and demobilization of heavy plant, fleet vehicles, and tower cranes across all UAE project sites.

Preventive Maintenance & Mechanical Operations

Implementing preventative maintenance schedules, overhaul repairs, and managing mechanical workshop operations for plant equipment.

Statutory Approvals & Third-Party Certifications

Ensuring all heavy equipment (especially tower cranes, hoists, and earthmovers) hold valid Dubai Municipality/Civil Defense/Third-Party Safety Certificates and operator licenses.

Equipment Breakdown, Vendor & Dispute Handling

Managing machinery breakdown incidents, supplier equipment rental disputes, warranty claims, and fuel/parts consumption audits.
