Description:
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Officer with proven experience in the maritime industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods, materials, and services required for vessel operations, maintenance, and repair. This role requires strong knowledge of marine equipment and global supply chain logistics, with the ability to ensure cost-effective and timely procurement while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for marine equipment, spare parts, consumables, and services.
- Handle RFQs, negotiate prices and contracts, and prepare purchase orders.
- Ensure timely procurement to meet vessel operational and repair schedules.
- Collaborate closely with vessel superintendents, technical managers, and marine engineers to understand requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with specifications and delivery deadlines.
- Track and follow up on orders, delivery, and invoicing to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and update procurement records, vendor databases, and reports.
- Ensure adherence to maritime safety standards and company procurement policies.
- Manage import/export documentation and liaise with customs agents where required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of purchasing experience in the maritime industry (shipping, ship repair, or marine services).
- Strong knowledge of marine parts, equipment, and technical specifications.
- Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with maritime regulations, Incoterms, and shipping documentation.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
