Quantity Surveyor

 

Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with a background in Civil Engineering to join our team. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of project cost and contract management, including the preparation of cost estimates, bills of quantities, and contract documentation. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and technical skills and will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure that projects are completed on budget and in line with the established specifications.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

Prepare accurate cost estimates for civil engineering projects, including material, labor, and overhead costs.

Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that costs are controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

Conduct cost analysis and provide advice on cost-saving measures and alternatives.

 

  • Bills of Quantities and Tendering:

Prepare detailed bills of quantities (BOQs) for projects based on drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Review and evaluate tenders, ensuring that all costs are accounted for and contracts are in compliance with project requirements.

Assist in the preparation of tender documents, including technical specifications, contractual terms, and conditions.

 

  • Contract Administration:

Administer contracts with contractors, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.

Monitor project progress and review payments to ensure they align with the work completed.

Manage variations and change orders, ensuring that all changes are properly documented and costed.

 

  • Cost Control and Reporting:

Monitor and track project costs and report on financial performance against the budget.

Prepare and submit regular cost reports and forecasts to senior management and project stakeholders.

Identify cost overruns and assist in corrective actions to mitigate potential financial issues.

 

  • Site Visits and Measurement:

Conduct site visits to verify quantities, assess work completed, and ensure that work is being executed in accordance with the project specifications and schedule.

Measure and assess the work completed by contractors, ensuring the accuracy of progress payments.

 

  • Dispute Resolution and Risk Management:

Resolve any cost-related disputes between contractors, suppliers, and clients.

Assist in managing project risks, particularly those related to costs and contracts.

Provide support in claims management and preparation of documentation for dispute resolution.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying. A professional certification or membership in a relevant body (e.g., RICS, AIQS) is a plus.
  • Experience:

Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in Dubai , preferably in civil engineering, fit-out and joinery projects.

Hands-on experience in cost estimation, contract management, and project cost control.

Proficiency in using Quantity Surveying and civil engineering software (e.g., CostX, AutoCAD, MS Project, etc.).

  • Skills:

Strong knowledge of civil engineering concepts, materials, and construction techniques.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective liaison with clients, contractors, and team members.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong organizational and time management skills.
