Scan To Bim / Point Cloud Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Scan-to-BIM professional to work with terrestrial laser scan data, point cloud registration, and Revit modelling to produce accurate BIM models and as-built CAD drawings for international projects.

 

Apex Surveys is an international survey and geospatial consultancy delivering high-accuracy reality capture solutions across buildings, infrastructure, and complex assets. Our services include terrestrial laser scanning, LiDAR, UAV survey, and the production of as-built BIM models, topographic surveys, and 2D/3D drawing outputs derived from point cloud data for clients worldwide.

 

This role focuses on working directly with point cloud datasets to produce BIM models, CAD drawings, and survey outputs derived from laser scanning and other reality capture technologies.

 

Role Overview

This is an office-based role where you will work with point cloud data captured from terrestrial laser scanning and other reality capture technologies. You will support the delivery of Scan-to-BIM and survey projects through point cloud registration, processing, modelling, and extraction of survey information.

You will also review outputs against the source point cloud data to ensure deliverables meet project accuracy requirements before client delivery.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Point Cloud Processing and Registration

  • Register and process terrestrial laser scan datasets to produce clean, aligned point clouds
  • Manage point cloud data using software such as Autodesk ReCap, Leica Cyclone, Faro Scene, CloudCompare, or similar tools
  • Ensure correct alignment, georeferencing, and coordinate consistency across scan datasets
  • Prepare and optimise point cloud data for modelling and drawing production workflows
