Solutions Architect

Description:

We are looking for an experienced IoT Architect / Solutions Architect to design, lead and deliver end-to-end IoT platforms and solutions. The successful candidate will own system-level architecture across devices, edge, connectivity, cloud/platform and integrations with enterprise systems. You will work closely with product, hardware, firmware, MLOps and operations teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure and maintainable IoT solutions that deliver measurable value.

Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end IoT architectures covering device hardware/firmware, edge compute, connectivity (MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, cellular), cloud platforms, data pipelines and integrations with backend systems (ERP, SCADA, analytics).
- Define system-level non-functional requirements: scalability, latency, availability, security, manageability and cost-efficiency.
- Produce architecture artifacts: reference designs, component diagrams, sequence flows, API contracts, data models, deployment blueprints and runbooks.
- Select and evaluate hardware platforms, connectivity options, edge compute hardware, cloud services, and third-party tools/vendors.
- Lead proof-of-concept and pilot projects; validate designs in lab and field; iterate toward production readiness.
- Define device provisioning, OTA update strategy, device identity & key management and secure boot/firmware processes.
- Design observability, logging, monitoring and alerting for devices, edge nodes and cloud services; work with SRE/DevOps to implement.
- Own CI/CD and release pipelines for firmware, edge software and cloud services; champion infrastructure-as-code and automated testing.
- Work with product managers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical roadmaps and prioritised backlogs.
- Provide technical leadership to cross-functional teams; mentor engineers, review designs and enforce architecture standards.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, data protection and industry standards; support security and compliance audits.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Telecommunications or related field.
- 6+ years of professional experience in IoT, embedded systems, cloud architecture or systems engineering; demonstrable experience designing production IoT platforms.
- Strong knowledge of device-to-cloud protocols (MQTT, CoAP, HTTP), connectivity technologies (Wi-Fi, BT, LoRaWAN, NB-IoT, cellular) and edge computing patterns.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native services for IoT, messaging, data lakes, stream processing and serverless.
- Familiar with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD tools, Terraform/ARM/CloudFormation and Git-based workflows.
- Solid understanding of security best practices for IoT (device identity, secure provisioning, encryption, OTA security, vulnerability management).
- Experience integrating IoT systems with enterprise software (ERP, MES, SCADA) and data analytics/ML workflows.
- Strong system design skills, ability to produce clear architecture documentation and present technical trade-offs to stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder-management skills; experience leading cross-functional teams.
- Preferred: experience with embedded firmware (C/C++), RTOS, edge ML deployment, telecom integrations and industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC-UA).
- Certifications (e.g., AWS/Azure IoT, CISSP, TOGAF) are a plus.
